Social programme

We are a  friendly bowling club that has a great social calendar through the whole year.  We have a large clubhouse with a kitchen and a bar.  The clubhouse can accommodate over 100 people.

Through the summer months bowling is the mainstay.   The winter programme runs from September to April featuring a wide range of clubhouse activities.

There are also many one-off events through the year.  The photos show the jubilee games, a Burns supper, spring lunch, Christmas party, buffets and maintenance day.  As well as the regular events.

From September to March the club is open seven days a week during the day.  Short mat bowls is played several times a week.  There is an internal league, social roll-ups, and occasional matches aganist other clubs.

Bridge, whist, and cribbage are popular.  Our club expert Bridge teacher Ian Dixon runs a weekly bridge class for beginners and improvers.

Scrabble and Rummikub are enjoyed.

For the more energetic,  we fit three table tennis tables into the clubhouse.  2023 saw the introduction of darts.

We also hold regular social events in the clubhouse including monthly coffee mornings, occasional talks, a Christmas party, musical bingo, and anything else any member wants to organise!

From April to September outdoor bowls fills most of the time.  We have special bowls events with a social dimension such as the openiung drive and pizza or the 2024 Olympic event.  Throughout the summer Friday nights are BBQ nights when club Vice President George Murray runs bowling followed by hot dogs with the bar open.

Social and special events are advertised on the club notice board for members to sign up.
